10. Corneal ulcer

The Corneal ulcer is also known as eyesore and is quite common in developing countries. One of its major causes is the lack of vitamin A in daily diet of the affected man or woman. hot and humid weather conditions have also been known to cause corneal ulcer. The cornea gets infected which results in the painful exposure of never endings. It has three types with permanent blindness being the ultimate effect. It can be successfully treated with surgery.

Eyelid Cyst or chalazion is quite common in Asia and happens when a gland in the upper eyelid gets block and inflammation occurs. It is quite like Stye (explained below) and only a eye specialist can tell the difference. Pink Eye can be caused by various things like a viral infection or bacteria, dirty hands or even as a result of an allergy to something. Its effects can also be seen on the inner linings of the eyelids.

Cataract is the 4^th most common eye disease in the world. A small mass which varies in density from being transparent to opaque to being totally solid forms in front of the eye which leads to induced blindness as the eye is functioning properly but the person can not see from that eye. Cataract usually forms in both eye but it never starts at the same time. It is easily removed by surgery.

Age related macular degeneration (ARMD or simply AMD), as the name suggests, occurs in men and women of higher age groups (above 50). The retina is damaged which results in partial loss of sight but the person with Age related macular degeneration does not go totally blind in most cases. Surgery can be done to reduce or sometimes reverse the damage done to the eye by Age related macular degeneration but at a high risk.

Stye appears as a small reddish bump at the base of the eyelid and is usually at the pore of the eyelashes from the infection of virus has attacked.
